The Wole Ogunyemi Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to empowering the next generation of leaders in Nigeria by providing access to quality education and knowledge. We focus on underserved communities, working to increase school enrolment and completion rates through key programs like scholarships, grants, school outreaches, and capital projects. We are seeking a passionate and driven Program Officer to drive the implementation and success of these initiatives.
Role Overview
The Program Officer will be responsible for the day-to-day coordination, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of the Foundation’s educational programs. This hybrid role requires a proactive, field-ready, and results-oriented individual who can effectively manage programs, engage stakeholders, and ensure program delivery meets the Foundation’s strategic objectives. The ideal candidate will be based in Ibadan and prepared for regular field visits and in-office work, alongside flexible remote work as scheduled.
Key Responsibilities
Program Implementation & Management
- Assist with the operational planning and manage the execution of assigned programs, including the Scholarship Scheme, Grant Distribution, and School Outreach Initiatives.
- Coordinate all logistical aspects of program activities, including beneficiary selection, verification, event scheduling, and resource allocation.
- Maintain detailed program work plans, timelines, and budgets, ensuring activities are carried out on time and within scope.
- Act as the primary point of contact for program beneficiaries (students, schools, and community leaders), building and maintaining strong relationships.
Monitoring, Evaluation, and Reporting (MERL)
- Utilize effective monitoring tools to track program progress, performance indicators, and outcomes against set targets.
- Conduct regular field visits to program sites (schools/communities) to ensure quality control and gather qualitative data.
- Collect, analyze, and manage program data, and assist in preparing comprehensive monthly, quarterly, and annual reports for the organisation.
- Document lessons learned, best practices, and success stories to contribute to continuous program improvement.
Stakeholder Engagement & Communication
- Collaborate effectively with the team to ensure integrated support for program delivery.
- Represent the Foundation at relevant external meetings, workshops, and community engagements.
- Assist in drafting proposals, concept notes, and presentations to support fundraising and partnership development efforts.
✅ Qualifications & Requirements
Education
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Social Sciences, Development Studies, International Relations, Project Management, or a related field.
Experience
- Minimum of 3 years of progressive experience in program management, project coordination, or a similar role, ideally within the non-profit/NGO sector, focusing on education or community development.
- Proven experience in monitoring and evaluation (M&E) for community-based projects.
- Experience working in underserved communities in Nigeria and familiarity with the Ibadan/Oyo State region is a significant asset.
Skills & Competencies
- Ability and willingness to learn.
- Excellent project management skills with a strong ability to manage multiple deliverables simultaneously.
- Strong analytical and data collection skills, with proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other data management tools.
- Exceptional communication, presentation, and report-writing skills in English.
- Ability to work independently and take initiative, while also being an effective team player.
- High level of integrity, professional maturity, and dedication to the Foundation’s mission.
- Must be resident in Ibadan or willing to relocate immediately.
